2012 is the year to nominate and vote for representation on OSSWA’s Board. The Board positions and responsibilities can be found through the link below to assist in your decision making. Please participate to keep OSSWA educating, advocating and supporting our beloved profession!

Nominations are open through February 11, 2012. Voting will take place between March and April 2012. All nominations should be sent to ablue@osswa.org.

Sherene L. Gardner, LSSW, LISW-S

President

Sherene Gardner has been a social worker for 18 years. Ms. Gardner has worked for Franklin Co. Children Services, The Ohio State University, Central Ohio Mental Health and Delaware City Schools. Ms. Gardner earned Masters Degrees in Social Work and in Public Administration from OSU. Some Areas of study: Family Stress Management, GLBT issues in the schools and in child welfare, CBT with children and adolescents, clinical supervision, and behavior techniques with visual learners. On a personal note Sherene Gardner is a parent of four wonderful children and is currently a licensed foster parent.

Nicole Stacey, MSW, ACSW, LISW-S

Nicole, who hails originally from Michigan, moved to the Cleveland area over five years ago.  She has a Bachelor’s in psychology from Grand Valley State University, and a Masters in clinical social work from Michigan State University.  Mrs. Stacey spent 12 years as a school social worker in the Roseville Community Schools working with elementary, junior high and alternative education students.  She then spent 5 years building the counseling department at Saint Martin de Porres High School, in urban Cleveland.  Presently, Mrs. Stacey is in private practice running after school groups for students with social skill needs and specializing in adolescent girls.  Personally, Mrs. Stacey lives in Bay Village with her husband, two very busy kids and her large dogs

Amanda Limberty, MSSA, LSW

Amanda acquired her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The University of Findlay and was awarded the senior social worker of the year award. Amanda went on to get her Masters in School Social Work from Case Western Reserve Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences in 2007. Amanda has been a keynote speaker for The University of Findlay’s awards ceremony, has provided several trainings on child abuse/ neglect, and developed a Girls Group Curriculum that was implemented in Cleveland Municipal School. Amanda is a licensed social worker and a certified school social worker. Amanda is currently employed by Bellefaire Jewish Children’s Bureau as a school based mental health intervention specialist in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Amanda provides individual behavioral health counseling and community psychiatric support to students. She provides classroom education, consultation to school staff, crisis intervention, and leads prevention groups. This is her first term as First Vice President on the OSSWA board.

Angela Malcolm, LISW-S

Angela graduated in 2004 from the Mandel School of Applied Social Science at Case Western Reserve University. She has previously been employed with Bellefaire Jewish Children’s Bureau as a School Based Therapist in the Cleveland Municiple School District. Angela is currently employed at Crossroads: Lake County Children and Adolescent Counseling Center as the Manager of School Based Services. She collaborates with Lake County school districts to provide school based services in the county. Angela supervises these providers and continues to provide direct services herself on a limited basis. Angela has been serving on OSSWA’s board since 2004.

Demitra M Turner, MSW, LSW

Demitra is currently OSSWA’s Treasurer and has served on the OSSWA Board since 2002. She received a Master of Social Work degree from Akron University as a part of the joint Masters program with CSU. Through post graduate studies Demitra received a ODE School Social Work license. Previously, she practiced as a School Social Worker in the Cleveland Heights-Univeristy Heights and Cleveland Metropolitan School Districts.  Currently she serving as a Clinical in-home therapist with Family Pride of Northeast Ohio.
