Talking Points:  HB 318 school safety grant

  • HB 318, which passed the Ohio legislature earlier this year, allows Ohio schools and districts to access funding for school safety grants, including for improving mental health responses for students.
  • We believe this funding should be invested in research-based approaches to school safety that help to support students and improve school climates rather than punitive approaches.
  • Attached please find a letter with more details on this funding, including how to apply, recommended uses of this funding, and potential trainers.
